Ser Harwin Strong, called Breakbones, was said to be the strongest man in the Seven Kingdoms in his day, an ox of a knight who broke shields with his fists at the lists and threw down men in mail at the melee. The elder son of Lord Lyonel of Harrenhal, he served Viserys I first as a captain of the gold cloaks and then, from 114 AC, as sworn shield to Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The whole of the court whispered that he was the true father of the princess's three eldest sons by Laenor Velaryon, Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey, all of whom had the brown hair and the bull-strong shoulders of Harwin and not the silver-gold of the dragonlords. In 120 AC, when he returned to Harrenhal with his father, a fire took the tower in which they slept, and Breakbones burned. Whether the blaze was an accident, the work of his brother Larys, or a dragon's work, the singers cannot agree.
