Portrait of Mya Stone

Mya Stone

Born
280 AC

A tall, strapping girl with coal-black Baratheon hair cut short and the deepest blue eyes, born around 280 AC in the Vale of Arryn to a peasant woman who had taken the young Robert Baratheon's eye during his fostering at the Eyrie. She was his first bastard child and the one he kept close in his youth — he carried her on his daily walks through the Vale long after he had tired of her mother, and Lord Eddard often went with him; when Lyanna Stark heard tell of the babe she came to like her betrothal a little less for it. After Robert took the throne he left Mya behind at the Gates of the Moon under House Royce's keeping, and there she has lived under their roof ever since, dressed in leather rather than skirts and unacknowledged in writing by the father whose name half the Vale knows. She earns her keep on the precipitous switchbacks of the Giant's Lance, leading her mule trains up to Sky and the Eyrie and down again with sure-footed certainty: highborn travellers ride her beasts up to court, supplies and provender ride them down. She gave her maidenhead in her girlhood to the squire Mychel Redfort and held to a hope of marriage until Lord Horton wed his newly-knighted son off to Ysilla of House Royce instead, and now Ser Lothor Brune the sellsword-knight watches her with a steadier eye while she watches her mules.
